Blame It On Osama

Five years have passed since the two Boeings hit the World Trade Center towers in New York City. And since then, a string of events started. The conflicts in Middle East restarted, Iraq and Afghanistan were invaded and occupied and first world citizens are now afraid of terrorism like vampires are afraid of fire.

And all of this happens because a single man, the guy who seems to be behind everything bad, the infamous Osama Bin Laden, who had a US$ 25 million bounty on his head. And it sounds quite retarded to me that no one has been able to find him yet. Come to think of it, several of his companions were arrested and are being sexually assaulted in Guantánamo, of course, some of them know someone who knows Bin Laden's whereabouts. And even if they didn't, satellites control the skies, they could simply launch a massive attack on all the suspect locations and presto! Terrorism is gone!

In my humble opinion, probably the less interested in peace is the U.S. weapon industry and its major customer, the U.S. Armed Forces. Why? Since Cold War ended, Western governments have been reducing their military budget sharply, damaging the big and influential American weapon industry. And on the eve of September 11th, the U.S. Congress decided to cut the military spending by US$ 50 billion for 2002. But, thanks to that arabian beardy guy with a turbant, they ended up reversing the Congress decision and throwing even more money at the camo pants' pockets. That means that the current military budget is round US$ 440 billion, more than the whole Belgium produces in a year.

And it just happened that it now seems the whole world became paranoid. The commercial aviation suffered a major hit, and government are setting up barriers everywhere, people are becoming more and more racist, not to mention the countless lives being lost everyday, most of them belonging to people who have nothing to do with terrorist organisation Al-Qaeda or the equally terrorist U.S. Government.
